Wheat town plumbing

Adams is a few streets of houses surrounded by dryland wheat. In town, the housing is older on the whole, with galvanized behind some walls, cast iron waste and drain layouts that predate current venting rules. Outside, farms run on wells and septic, with long buried supply runs, shops, pump houses and stock water that all matter more than the kitchen tap when something fails in January.

Water is hard, so scale coats heater elements, cements fill valves and shortens heater life. Treatment sized from a water test is worth the money on a property that depends on its own well.
